In 1991 a good friend and legendary drummer, Jerry Carrigan, and I felt the current regÃme in Washington D.C. conducting war at that time seemed totally removed from reality.\n\nBack then, I was performing at the China Club and Madome Wong\'s in L.A., as well as various clubs in Nashville with my band Fugitive Blonde. The band was Jerry Carrigan (who I met working with John Denver) on drums, and the fabulous Wooten Brothers. Jerry got permission from the writers, and the two of us cut an updated version with new lyrics for \"Washington We\'re Watching You,\" originally recorded by The Staple Singers in 1974. The original writers are Homer Banks - Carl Hampton - G. Jackson. (Thanks for a great hook guys!)\n\nI changed one line from our 1991 track and (unfortunately) the song is once again current. And both Conrad and Jerry endorse Barack Obama. We do have a choice this time!\n\nThanks to Roger Nichols for mixing and mastering.\n\nVocal & track by Conrad Reeder\n\nDrums & Piano by Jerry Carrigan\n\nSpecial vocal appearance by \"Juan Diargio.\"
