Participants not only discussed indoors, but were also provided with opportunities to explore local tourist sites. Our reporters went along to capture the atmosphere: \n\nThe participants of the \'MICE in Green 2008\' were guided on tours to see for themselves and appreciate local authentic charms. They started off the day tour with a visit to the outstanding Sino--Portuguese architectural styles in the heart of old Phuket town. The ancient Sino-Portuguese buildings have complimentary influences from Portugal, Holland, England, and China. The participants, who comprised tour operators, travel agents, and company representatives, were guided further to Rang Yai Island on the east side of Phuket. The island was a shooting location for television soap operas which are very famous for Thai viewers. Here they observed a pearl cultivation farm which is located near a seductive setting amidst glittering white sandy beaches with coconut plantations. The participants admitted that the location is ideal for a get-away holiday for MICE businessmen. While the first group enjoyed the splendid Rang Yai Island, the second tour offered a trip to Phang-Nga\'s Koh Yao or Yao island. The majority of population here are Muslim. While locals still live their life in simplicity, the island is also home to one of the most luxurious resorts. Visiting this bay, they could see tourists enjoying canoeing and appreciating the bay\'s rich beauty. The organizers of \'MICE in Green\', namely the Tourism Authority of Thailand or TAT and Thailand Incentive Convention Association or TICA, jointly hope that the seminar indoors, table top sales and the site visits would help boost the region\'s tourism during the rainy season, as the Andaman region offers diversities of tourism products, as the TAT\'s Executive Director for the Southern region Satit Nillwongse, explained:
